Description

This unit provides an advanced and insightful look into the design, analysis and performance evaluation of telecommunication networks. Key topics covered in the course include: benefits of high speed networks such as effectiveness, cost and customer control; functions and characteristics of several services and technologies such as Personal Communication Services, Frame Relay, Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM), SONET/SDH and Switched Multimegabit Data Services; Protocol modeling and verification techniques; ATM LANs, multimedia communication; Analysis of protocols for data link, network and transport layers; Network design; Operating system views of communication.
