M.Sc. in Software Engineering (SEN)


The M.Sc. in Software Engineering degree program constitutes preparation for one of the largest and fastest-growing professions: software engineer. It recognizes the ubiquitous and growing need for new and evolving software. The degree program is founded on the principle that developers must be thoroughly practiced in understanding new requirements in diverse fields and, acting as team members or leaders, fully competent to deliver secure, reliable software.

Students who complete the master’s degree in Software Engineering will be able to demonstrate:

Admission Requirements for M.Sc. Programs

 

Admission to the graduate program will be selective. To apply for admission, prospective candidates are advised to fulfill the criteria listed below:

 

Required Criteria

  1. Four-year Bachelor Degree from a reputed university in Bangladesh or abroad with a minimum CGPA of at least 2.50 (out of 4.0) at undergraduate (B.Sc.) level. Special consideration may be given to candidates who have an undergraduate CGPA below 2.5 (out of 4.0) but have significant research or full-time work experience (corporate, NGO, startups, etc.). 

Fulfilling any one of the criteria below is not required but highly encouraged

  1. A Statement of Purpose describing your reasons for seeking a graduate degree (M.Sc./M.Engg) and providing information on your leadership experience, work experience, service experience, or other significant involvement with technological, socio-economic, or educational activities that would promote a diversity of views, experiences, and ideas in the pursuit of research, scholarship, and creative excellence.
  1. Proof of any full time work experience (full-time corporate position or startup experience) in a field related to the applicants chosen graduate degree program. For example, a letter of current or past employment in a company.
  1. Letter of recommendation from B.Sc. senior design project supervisor and/or B.Sc. course faculty and/or reporting manager at a company.

Degree Requirements


The requirements listed below are a minimum requirement for a Masters degree set by the School. Students are advised to consider their specific requirements.

For the Masters degree program, the student must undertake a minimum of 33 credits, including:


Seven courses from the core subjects: 21 credits
Two courses from elective subjects: 6 credits
Graduate project work including oral presentation : 6 credits

The students of project work must secure at least B grade in thesis work and a CGPA of at least 3.0 for the award of the Masters degree.

Students pursuing a Masters degree must finish all their requirements within a five-year period of continuous enrollment as a regular student.
