School of Engineering and Computer Science (SECS) of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) organized 'AERO Fest 2015' on 6th March 2015 at the permanent campus of the university located at Basundhara. The event was part of a campaign to encourage students in Aerial Robotics and get flying enthusiasts from all over the country to show the current state of the art. This is the second such event organized by IUB in as many years. The first ever exhibition of flying machines was organized back in 2014 in collaboration with ESAB (Engineering Students' Association of Bangladesh). More than 80 participants from 22 organizations took part in this daylong event in two categories. In a room full of enthusiasts of all ages, participants displayed their products in makeshift stalls. In the afternoon, participants from "Rotary Wing" category were invited to give a flying demonstration of their machines and the large hall was literally abuzz with flying machines. Participants from "Fixed Wing" category showed the maneuverability of their machines by Taxiing. IUB, a pioneer in aerial robotics research plans to host this event every year.
The event ended with a prize giving ceremony presided over by the Vice Chancellor of IUB, Professor M. Omar Rahman. The dean of Engineering School, Dr. Ali S. Sabbir gave a brief welcome speech. The names of the winning teams are listed below:
